Decentralization of Sustainable Aviation Fuel production will delay the development of economies of scale in Europe according to IATA.

It does indeed not make sense to produce SAF at every European airport in small quantities at very high costs and in competition with other electricity consumers.

It does neither make sense to produce SAF with the technology of Synhelion at airports where there is not enough sun.

And it does not make sense to produce SAF where energy is cheap and abundant and then to ship it around half the globe or more to every European airport.

There is a better solution: produce it where there is an abundance of cheap energy, ship it only to the next airport, get the difference to the market price paid by a purchaser in Europe, who will receive the credits. This is called Book & Claim.
