In Rapperswil, during the recent General Assembly of the Swiss Power-to-X Collaborative Innovation Network (SPIN) at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences, significant changes were made to the board, to bolster the organisation’s strategic capabilities.

New Board Appointments

We are pleased to announce the election of Stephen Fer, General Manager at STRADE, who succeeds Jean Marc Lenz, former CEO of SR Technics. Additionally, Thomas Peyer has been appointed as a new board member. He represents the Swisspower city utilities alliance and is the CEO of Swisspower Green Gas AG.

Continued Leadership and Expertise

The board will continue to include its longstanding members: Co-Presidents National Councilor Martin Bäumle and Patrik Meli (Managing Director, MAN Energy Solutions Switzerland AG), as well as Prof. Markus Friedl (OST), Thomas Blättler (Business Development Manager, Sulzer AG), Yasmine Calisesi (EPFL), Philipp Furler (Synhelion AG), Prof. Andre Heel (OST), and Patrick Lura (Hitachi Zosen Inova AG).

Departures and Acknowledgments

We acknowledge the upcoming departure of Christoph Beuttler (Climeworks AG) from the board at the end of May, and are currently seeking a suitable replacement. We also extend our gratitude to Jean Marc Lenz and Christoph Beuttler for their contributions and wish them well in their future endeavors.

SPIN’s Role and Objectives

Since its establishment in 2021, SPIN – the network of Power-to-X networks – has actively facilitated the exchange between stakeholders from research, industry, politics, administration, and civil society in Switzerland, aiming to create favorable conditions for Power-to-X technologies. Through regular webinars, public outreach, and participation in the Parliamentary Group on Hydrogen / Power-to-X in Bern, SPIN plays a critical role in advancing awareness and implementation of these forward-looking technologies.

In collaboration with Swissmem, SPIN aims to accelerate the transition to 100% renewable energy in Switzerland, enhance the resilience of the Swiss energy system, and achieve at least net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Looking Forward

The addition of new board members is expected to bring fresh perspectives and ideas that will help us achieve our ambitious goals. We are confident that these changes will enable SPIN to play a leading role in Switzerland’s energy transition.

We thank all members and partners for their ongoing support and look forward to the collective successes ahead as we continue to shape the future of energy in Switzerland and beyond.
